The moon goddess and the sun

Mixed media collage.
This obvious tribute to Matisse's cutouts has a complex genesis.
I began making collagraph prints in the style of Matisse's cutouts. The plates were made using scraps and offcuts from various rejected monoprints. I liked the appearance of the plates, so decided to do some actual collage on a larger scale.
In this piece the central yellow panel is an acrylic wash on watercolour paper prepared as the background for a linocut.
Image approx 9" by 8" on Fabriano watercolour paper 15" by 11".
Please note: the brown line on the bottom is an artefact of scanning caused by the paper flexing in the scanner. It isn't on the original.
