'Blood Swept Lands And Seas of Red' Poppy from the installation to commemorate the 100 years since World War 1

'Blood Swept Lands And Seas of Red' Poppy from the installation to commemorate the 100 years since World War 1
My Poppy from the Tower Of London "Blood Swept Lands And Seas of Red" installation to commemorate the 100 years since World War I has just arrived.

I didnt know it was it.. and I opened the box and was hit with a huge emotional wave. I just stood and cried. It still has earth on from the Tower of London (that in itself is so emotive... my Home.. My England that I miss so much. I used to walk past the Tower daily when I did my apprentiship). The impact of finally seeing this Poppy ... one of 888,246 that represents someone who died in World War I was an enormous emotional hit.

I have now assembled the Poppy.. it means so very very much to me. I was brought up to Honour the Poppies and ALL they represented. This is a special thing for me.

oh that is so cool! I love those poppies and the story they represent!
I tried to get one but they were all sold out.

I applied within 2 days of them starting to "plant"

I know I am lucky. They could have sold them 3 times over... but Paul Cummins was adamant that only the 888,246 would be made.

My friend in the UK who organised the shipping for me said he had seen one already on eBay... which we both felt was very wrong... but I know it will happen... Bet they dont donate the money to the 6 causes the rest is going to.

this woman got busted.... ebay will not allow the sale of these poppies. Good for them for standing their ground.

WW.... Thankyou !

You just made my day !! I will pass that link on to S in the UK !!

eBay are pretty good at policing the site.. and they DO act when told.. if they have missed something.

after I posted that link, I went in search of the poppies on ebay, none can be sold there. I do give them huge kudoos for that. I can't see why though if someone want to 'get rid of theirs' I would be willing to buy it however the money has to go to it's intended purpose... so essentially the 'seller' loses their money but so what! that's just my opinion though.

My friend S saw the one on 3rd Feb.. it got through.. went for £168.

That is 168 pieces of silver... Karma will out. (I dont blame eBay.. they are trying to do the right thing... and cant get everything)

Point is.. the chances of the money going to the causes is remote.

There will be plenty sold on other sites you can bet... easy and simply Pay Pal transaction. Its the ethics of where the money goes...... IF to the Charities... its acceptable... but I would bet on less than 5% of the inevitable sales doing that.... for me that isnt acceptable.
