Mama Raccoon and 3 babies Collage

Mama Raccoon and 3 babies Collage
Poor quality I know !

On a rare rainy night in Oklahoma... through a water streaked window.... hand held and by the light of a distant security light !!

It looks alot brighter light source than it was with the editing I did !

She brings them at night ... the big feeder on the tree is one I built.. and built and hung to withstand at least 25 lbs in weight hanging off it... well being the thwarted engineer I am.. I added a little leeway.... which is fortunate !

EXPLORED !

ColRam, Annalia S., Eunice Perkins, and 26 other people have particularly liked this photo

As cute as those critters can be, they are too smart for their own good. We enjoyed their visits until they got destructive and now we like to watch from a further distance. You have caught them well ... :)

Thankyou Chris.

Here.. we are very rural... all the wildlife is very shy. I have never had the raccoons or any other animals destroy anything. They still know when its a good time to leave.... that works for me too.

The exception is the gopher.. and he eats what the drought doesnt get first.... I guess I will live with that !

We live in the country but we have farms in the area so I doubt we are as rural as you. We have to padlock the birds food in a metal box to keep the raccoons out of it. Before we got the lock we looked out one evening and the racoon was sitting in the box having a merry ole time! lol The ground hogs have nearly destroyed the plants and flowers ... we are off to get a live trap and move them further up the mountain. Hopefully that will work!!!! :)

We are surrounded by 10,000 acres of Wildlife Management Area.. which itself is surrounded by grazing land and just plain wild land. Nothing here is going to move any further than my fence.... I guess we are on their land.. and thats the price we pay. Not saying that when the plants get gophered it doesnt annoy me.. but thats more my fault for hoping than theirs !! Things here have enough struggle to live....for now.. we manage to share ...

Now Pam that is indeed rural ... as for the critters, my husband always says, they have to eat too and they were here long before us. With moving the ground hogs, it will also help the cattle that graze on two sides of our fence line. The g. hogs dig tunnels and then when the cattle step into one, they often come up lame and some have to be put down. As you say, we have to find a way to co-exist.

OH those tunnels !!! I too have fallen foul of them.. and the dogs !!!

Here.. its very dry.. real drought and we are on sandstone.... so... mostly the tunnels hold up fine... but get a little rain.... OhhhhhOhhhhhh !!!
