Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! AMAZING!!!! Pam, I was on a bike ride last year and we stopped for a few minutes so I walked around and found these guys coming out of the ground all over the place and taking off into the sky...it was an incredible sight!! And you got pictures!!! HOORAY!!! *high five* WHAT A GREAT SHOT!!!! FANTASTIC!!! :)

By way way, I would like to report...MIMOSA POPPAGE!!! I think 8 have popped and I am so excited!!!! I am still working on the moon flowers, I've tried cold stratification, scarification, soaking...OMG THE BUGGERS!! Actually, I THINK three may have popped, but I put them in the seedling tray and so far there's nothing. I think they are being RUDE! :D

I hope all is well with you, last thing you mentioned was a carpet of seedlings coming up all over the place, so I hope everything is continuing like gangbusters!!

*BIG HUGS TO MY SUPER DUPER POD SISTER* :D :D

Thankyou Janet !

These nest in the cracks in the sleepers and this was was just one nest of about 5. The birds were LOVING it.. but safety in numbers.. these lil ones were overwhelming and escaping.

The Moonies drive me mad. I have a zillion here.. all sprouting ! And my false sunnies are carpeting... still tiny... nothing here for the few butterflies to eat.

4 of your Acacia are popped ! And I have a patchling of Milkweed all about 2" high !! Mule ears is a maybe...Threadleaf came through then died off :((

Thankyou Christiane.

Only a very few will survive .. the sheer number is how they do that. The birds had a feast !

Wonderful image, Pam. They can be so thick sometimes that they need to be shoveled off the sidewalks and roads.

A fascinating close-up, Pam. These are very like our flying ants and termites (I can never tell the difference).

Two great shots. I particularly like this close up. I used not to be an insect fan but age has mellowed me.

Thanks for the visit and comments, Pam. It's too bad there's not a fisherman around.

Cool find Pam! I had the unfortunate luck to drive thru a huge mass of something like these years ago. Wouldn't have been so bad, but I had my window open...yech!
