Fabulous, I just love the monarch butterfly and enjoyed photography all the stages from egg through butterfly a couple of years ago when I was staying with my parents in NZ.

-- my dear Friend, You need to send some of these to:

bit.ly/1c17tEt

Journey North - a site that tracks Monarchs from migration North from Mexico to their Summer locations and back ... if you don't already have it!
You will probably find 'why' they fed as they did !

What an outstanding, wonderful collage!! How lucky you are to have had visits from these butterflies and were able to capture them so beautifully! It's a funny thing about taking things for granted or not realizing how special a situation is--living in San Francisco, I remember seeing swarms of butterflies passing through town on their way down to Monterey, which is one of their wintering spots...I never understood how incredible this was until I'd grown up and moved away. Now, oh, if I could only be there during their migration time and have my camera with me! But I'm happy that you have this wonderful collage to appreciate, so many perfect butterfly pictures!! WELL DONE!!! :)

Thankyou Janet !

I have never seen(except on television) the migration for real till this year. Yes.. in the 7 years I have been in the USA I have seen the odd one or two Monarchs... last year.. 3.... at separate times.... but this year... weird weather... everything late...almost no butterflies of any kind.. then hordes !! THEN.. 20 MONARCHS.... as if the migration route twitched to the side a little.

I know they come in bigger numbers.. but I will never EVER forget MY Monarchs this year.... and quite possibly.. things will change back.. and I will never experience this again.

I am thankful !
