Some six years ago I had the chance to be a university student in Kyoto, and trust me, once you have checked up on your list a good deal of all of the Old Capital's specialties like temples, shrines, festivals, food, maikos, castles, streets, and they start to be a part of everyday life, then... what is next to discover?
My answer still is: WILDLIFE
You wouldn't believe all the species of crazy animals roaming around Japan's most beautiful city: eagles, falcons, rabbits, carps, fancy cats and dogs, turtles, reptiles, snakes, yakuzas, rodents... you name it! Kyoto has them all!
