Canadian Northern Turntable

Canadian Northern Turntable
A construction crew recently dug up an old Canadian National Railway turntable that used to serve the roundhouse that was in the downtown yards. The roundhouse was demolished sometime in the 1960's, but the tuntable was just buried. Plans are to build the new building right over the top of the old turntable.

I saw it too, a lot bigger than I imagined!

Oh yes, by the time they built the last one the locomotives had become quite large. I think this was the third turntable they had in this location, each one being larger than the previous one.

Yes it is, it's a shame that it will be buried under a new building, but at the rate that we build and then knock things down around here, it could be less than 50 years before it's discovered yet again :-)

The only turntables I was familiar with are the ones for playing records. But I looked it up and understand now. Love the processing here. Very much fits the subject. Excellent work, Chris.

I hope you are around to take another shot when it is next uncovered. It would be interesting to do a comparison! ;-)

Oh my goodness, that could be a hundred years or more, my body's becoming a little worn out already, a hundred years or more from now I shall be glad of the peace that I will have ;-) However, it will be interesting when it is re-uncovered, whenever that may be.
