2014 Edmonton Pride Parade

2014 Edmonton Pride Parade
The annual Pride Festival kicked off last Saturday, the 7th June 2014, with a very successful parade that was a lot of fun. Luckily, where I was watching the parade I was able to catch it all before the rain started to pour down, others further along the route were not so lucky, but the brave ones got some pretty good shots in the rain. Myself, I took shelter in a nearby pub.

Polyrus, Mike have particularly liked this photo

Good grief. I'm away shooting birds for what, two days, and you have posted an entire collection!! LOL. What a delightful series, Chris. It's always so much fun to watch the Pride Parade. It always makes me regret I'm not gay, fun they seem to have. Sad thing though that intolerance against homosexuals is increasing again. There have been incidents even here in the Netherlands. Quite shocking. Good to see that Gay Canada is alive and kicking! I'm gonna go browse the series now.

LOL! That will teach you to go away ;-) The intolerance levels here are much lower than they were when the Pride Festival first started out many years ago. Of course there will always be people who will hate something for no apparent reason other than just to hate, but this festival pulls one of the biggest crowds of the year into the downtown core, it has really taken off in the last few years and I have not seen any trouble at all at any of these festivals that I have been to over the past few years :-)

He reminds me a bit of George Takei. Hopefully I'll be able to get a few good shots of him next weekend when I am in Columbus for the day.

Lucky you! I'm the same, unless the weather is really comfortable, I stay away from Gay Pride these days.

The Pride Parade is the most enjoyable parade of the year in Edmonton, it would take a lot to keep me away :-)

I think he has to be pretty courageous to do all that he's doing.
