He was one of my heroes. In 1954 he suggested that computers would be used to generate art. My work as a student was based around that.... writing programs to generate art :)
Superb collection - wonderful patterns and colors.
What I like is that now you see many of these patterns all around you... you don't need a computer to generate them! (Btw, I'm a computer scientist myself ;-) ).
Actually I painted from what I saw around me...... the computer came much later..... my early photographs were source material for the paintings.....the act of painting was to reach an understanding of what I saw....:)
i must laugh ... so you are a op-art artist! ... i like optical-art effects and tried to work out them sometimes on my photos ... but my favorite op-art artist is vasarely ... can i put you on the 2. place? is this ok for you? *g
what i see here from you is more vasarely-like than riley (her art is more b/w and with lines and grafical things producing optical effects ... seems to me that yours is more vasarely-influated ... colors and like flower-power *g)
with "flower power"-like i ment you (your pictures/paintings) not vasarely ... colors both - riley did not make optical effects out of the colors (mostly) ... more out of grafical elements ... some with colors too but if you think away the colors at those (make it bw) the effect is the same - maybe she developed it in b&w or from b&w ... and more with easy standard figures ... lines, circles etc.
shure that you made more or have more - but it´s your presentation of paintings you want to show here (others i dont know) ... and i only told you how i see it in this context with vasarely and riley, from whoom you said, that they have influenced you in your work most - what kind of feedback do you whish? - you can only get something out of the things you show others ... one pic and/or all togeher in their context
