Sunshine and shadows
I went for a hike in the mountains this morning with a friend from work. The sun was just starting to shine and the weather was very beautiful. I have posted a lot of pictures from this place and I probably will keep on doing that every once in a while… -
Sunshine, at last.
Today the sun finally showed it self here in Isafjordur after many weeks of waiting. I quit work early and went out to see the sun and take some pictures. Here is the first one. It was a beautiful day, but still very cold :o) -
View from the mountainside
I took a walk in the mountainside above Isafjordur few weeks ago and took this picture. It was very chilly but I always like the view of my hometown when it is getting dark :o) -
Sand, sea and snow....
but still no sun :o) I visited this place yesterday for the first time in over 30 years and yet it is not more than 15 minutes drive away from my home. It was raining but I will surely go there again in the summer when the sun will be shining and I can… -
Brighter times ahead
After a long and dark winter the sun is finally starting to show again. I didn't see it but it lit the town up for a while when the thick clouds drifted away. I took this picture from my home a few days ago. -
Isafjordur
This is one of my favorite places. Very nice scenery and always great to sit down and enjoy the view after climbing up there :o) -
Sing us a song...
Tonight was kind of a Halloween here in Isafjordur, the kids knock at your door, sing a song and get some candy instead. Those two handsome "ladies" sang some lyrics they wrote themselves and got their rewards :o) -
The sky is watching
The last picture from that night. All the Northern Lights were gone but I took one more, just checking for how long I could keep the finger on the shutter. I lasted 122 seconds, it was really cold, more than -10 degrees ;o) -
Bright lights, small town
Another picture from when I was trying to capture the Northern Lights. They were not very strong but can I kind of like this picture :o) -
My first try...
... to capture the Northern Lights with my new camera. As soon as I got out it started to get cloudy, but I got this tiny line in one of my pictures. I also need a remote trigger so I can take longer exposures. I'll keep on trying and won't quit until… -
Things of the past
Two boats that are waiting to be restored and will be a part of the museum along with the Tower House, one of the oldest houses in Iceland. -
Isafjordur
I was walking close to where I live the other day and took this picture of my hometown and the mountains surrounding it. -
The Tower House
This is one of the oldest houses in Isafjordur, now a part of a museum. -
Fresh start...
and old ships. Just went out to try my new camera and I think it is great, so this is my first picture from it ;o) Few years ago, everything revolved about the fishing industry here, but now some of the ships are just gathering rust at the harbor :( -
Colored glass
The look from my car a few days ago. Lovely weather and full moon, but my windshield had some dirt spots :o) The sun is shining on the mountain tops and the next time the sky will be clear the sun will shine on the town after a dark winter.... yyyeeeesss… -
Takeoff...
I took some pictures yesterday of a plain taking off from Isafjordur and put them together :o)
