Rothschild's Giraffe (4)

The twelfth image in my latest "African Wildlife" series, taken during our recent travels throughout Northern Uganda. (Feb-Mar 2017) This capture will give you some idea of just how close we were to dozens of Rothschild's giraffes while on safari in Murchison Falls National Park. We could almost reach outside our van's windows and touch these gentle giants! Shot handheld using a Sony Alpha SLT-A57 body and vintage Minolta Maxxum 100-300 APO-D telephoto lens. www.focusonnewfoundland.com

Rothschild's Giraffe

The ninth image in my latest "African Wildlife" series, taken during our recent travels throughout Northern Uganda. (Feb-Mar 2017) This capture will give you some idea of just how close we were to dozens of Rothschild's giraffes while on safari in Murchison Falls National Park. We could almost reach outside our van's windows and touch these gentle giants! I had brought along my trusty vintage Minolta Maxxum 100-300mm APO-D telephoto lens, but I could have done better with a wider lens, (non-telephoto) as I…

Bushara Island Trail

The third image in my latest "African Landscapes" series, taken during our recent travels throughout Uganda. This is a trail which I hiked on Bushara Island, situated on scenic Lake Bunyonyi in the southwest corner of Uganda, almost up against the borders of both Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. We stayed on Bushara for three nights, and enjoyed the great many colourful birds in this mountainous region. Shot handheld using a Sony Alpha SLT-A57 body and Samyang 8mm f/3.5 ultra-wide angle (fisheye) l…

Blue-Headed Tree Agama

The eighth image in my latest "African Wildlife" series, taken during our recent travels throughout Northern Uganda. (Feb-Mar 2017) This blue-headed tree agama is very common in Uganda; they are seen everywhere, and in large numbers. One day I counted over a dozen of these large lizzards (they grow to about 30 cm in length) from where I was standing. They are difficult to photograph though, as they are quite camera-shy, and usually disappear before your very eyes, just as you are about to take their picture…

Weaving Baskets

The fifteenth image in my latest "Africa Candid Portraits" series, taken during our recent travels throughout remote Western Uganda. (Feb-Mar 2017). This is our dear friend and charity partner Marjorie, as she sits on the veranda weaving baskets. Shot handheld using a Sony Alpha SLT-A57 body and Sony 35mm f/1.8 prime lens. www.focusonnewfoundland.com

Cabin With A View

The second image in my latest "African Landscapes" series, taken during our recent travels throughout remote Western Uganda. This one of the Musobozis' guest cabins which we stay in when we come to visit. Ezra and his wife Marjorie own "Kitojo Guest Cottages" (about a 30 minute drive south of Fort Portal in Western Uganda) which is a lovely bed and breakfast consisting of several well-equipped, thatched grass-roofed cabins overlooking a lush valley of banana plantations, with a fine view of the Rwenzori Mou…

Moses (2)

The fourteenth image in my latest "Africa Candid Portraits" series, taken during our recent travels throughout remote Western Uganda. (Feb-Mar 2017) This is our new friend Moses, who is one of the staff members of Kitojo Guest Cottages, where we stayed for most of the duration of our trip. Moses keeps the cabins and grounds immaculate, and he is also a competent electrician. Shot handheld using a Sony Alpha A550 body and Sony 35mm f/1.8 prime lens. www.focusonnewfoundland.com
