A 4160V line that once circled around the west side of Alexandria to serve a step-up to 12.5kV for rural Alexandria and Fulton (4th pole). I'd JUST missed Xcel's replacement of an ancient pole that had a Westy on it (2nd pole - low-res street view: goo.gl/maps/k7fuEjSJA972 ).

Xcel apparently decided it was no longer a good idea to serve that 12.5kV system through the Alexandria 4160V system and built a 34.5kV circuit from the substation over to the step-down. All the 4160V transformers were moved to the 34.5kV system and step-downs placed for a couple 2400V branches. The 12.5kV system beyond the new step-down was left alone.

Yup. 100% rebuild up to the former step-up pole. I'll add a stop here on the way back from my cross-state trip next Saturday.

I think I can remember a pic you showed us of the new setup a while back. Not many black step down cans any more.
