Kansas City Power & Light - St. Joseph, MO
An odd vine-covered pole I've seen a few times - this was not an easy pole to find a good vantage point to get a picture of. Dunno what its purpose is, AND I saw another one exactly like it a mile or so west along the route I had to follow after I got this shot.

Looks to me mostly like a dead three-phase transformer bank, but a closer inspection reveals some odd details in the second 'can' - perhaps a recloser or oil switch?

OH! I wonder - if they're somehow using two regular transformers to derive 480V for the freeway lighting?

That middle can is odd. It looks like it has four terminals. I agree that it is perhaps a two pole oil switch controlling the two transformers wired up like you say 240/480V. I have seen that done before.

That seems odd though, especially since the primary is single-phase! Could this setup perhaps be a downgrade?
