A lot going on here - 69/12.5kV sub on the left, a 69kV cap bank in the middle, and a 69kV/4160V sub on the right. At the time I got this pic, the 12.5kV was still primarily for Portland (3 miles west) and Mayville was still almost all 4160V. I think they had JUST extended the Portland feeder over to the college campus to the east.

They have since expanded the 12.5kV side to add a second feeder on that side and converted part of the Mayville distribution system. I wouldn't be surprised if Xcel eventually moves to get everything in Mayville up to 12.5kV.

I like that the substation has wooden poles and supports.. I don't see substations with wood hardy anymore as it is all steel now..

Checking on street view (4th St. NW west of the tracks), the new 12.5kV bay is on the west side of the sub and the middle 4160V bay has been wrecked out (and the 6 on the arm 4160V line coming out).
