Some progress on the Morrell 4160V step-down.

I wish it wasn't such a long hike to get to where I can see around the 4160V landing towers.

Jesse Lor, Jim Gullett, Sean Kinnier have particularly liked this photo

I see some bladed disconnects.

I also see some old transformers sitting on the ground near the center of this pic. Maybe of the plant's spares.

Yeah, I didn't see those the last time I hiked over there. I have a pic somewhere in my files of another set they had down some time back - and one of which was definitely a cast-iron unit.

I think I've figured out a shorter path to get over to this area and if I can pull it off, I'll get an updated pic this weekend.

Did you see the new poles they have added to the main line towards the left?

I hope those H-frames in front aren't going anywhere!

As near as I can figure, they may remain as the dead-end for the line, but I'm 95% sure the 4160V spans over the Big Sioux will be biting the dust along with the Morrell 69/4kV sub.

That short white building in the back sure does give the site an eerie look.

I agree - especially that's where the livestock is unloaded.
