Coop transformer

Coop transformer
(Mid Norris photo)

A lineman friend stumbled across an old Hubbard Autogap arrester still in service! It's not that great an angle - will have to encourage him to return for a few more pics. The arrester is mounted on one of the hanger brackets and has a standoff on top for the line terminal then the open-link fuse spans from there to the transformer primary terminal.

Even more interesting is the stenciling on the transformer - it says "REA / CO-OP"! VERY few of these 1930s transformers are still around.

Lewis Perkins, SW Ohio Lines, Power Lines have particularly liked this photo

That one's a nice find. Not too many of those old Hubbard Autogap units still around. I think they were made back in the 50's and were intended to mount onto transformers on co-op poles.

I wonder if it was added onto the transformer a while after it was made?
