Montana-Dakota Utilities - Forsyth, MT

Montana-Dakota Utilities - Forsyth, MT
(swiped from Google street view)

FINALLY! They sent the car around to get a better look in town (previously there was just one street with low-res). The present-day 57kV line ends at the tap structure (as if MDU had ideas of eventually building on to a possible tie with the former Montana Power system to the west?) Anyway, that has GOT to be the old MSP-era substation on the right!!! Too bad Mike's not around to confirm.

Mountain States Power Co.'s five easternmost towns were in eastern Montana - Forsyth, Rosebud, Baker, Plevna, and Ismay - all of which were transferred to MDU under the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935. Only Hot Springs, SD and Newcastle, WY were further east but those had already been picked up by what is now Black Hills Power.

David Budka, Tony Glen have particularly liked this photo
