Xcel Energy - Sioux Falls, SD
A bit of a brake stomper on this 115kV line - it is part of the same 115kV circuit that went in around 2003 that caused the 69kV line along SD42 west of town to be retired. Here it ducks under a different 115kV circuit also operated by Xcel.

The 12.5kV circuit was rebuilt to 34.5kV, but the branch line remains at the older voltage so a step-down was installed to tap the 34.5kV circuit.

I remember that photo! The odd-looking monopole structure truly looked strange with that half-arm pole next to it.

That half-arm pole was what remained after Xcel "razeed" the old pole to make way for this one.
