Repurposed arrester

Repurposed arrester
I'd acquired an old L-M arrester at some point, but it had a rotted fiberglass lid on it, and the ground connection was broken off, so cleaned it up, and which makes for an unique candleholder. The can is for size comparison.

The etched marking on the glass reads: 3 KV. / 0-6000 FT ALT. / LM 57

Lewis Perkins, Tony Glen have particularly liked this photo

My westinghouse cutout fuse link or insert is made of fiberglass and I remember touching it and getting it on me… I was itchy for an hour until I could get back to the house to put some cream on!

In antique shops, I've seen glass insulators that were used as candle holders.

I don't think it's right to turn a piece of history into something that has wax all over it!

Even if the insulator is a Hemingray-42? :)
