Montana-Dakota Utilities - Java, SD
Just found out that this was erected a year before I got this picture. In Google Maps, this sub was actually under construction (the enclosure and pads were done, the switch and tap pole were under construction). I'm surprised MDU didn't attempt to convert the 2400V delta system to 4160V wye at the same time.

Glad to see that they kept it at 2.4kV delta. Always pleasant to see somebody running delta distribution!

These days, it seems that remaining delta systems in this part of the country are left in place unless an increase in system capacity is needed or the system is in such poor condition a rebuild is required. Since Java is a typical small SD town and MDU is usually good about keeping up with maintenance, it's probably why the system was left alone. It seems that there is space for a third regulator, so MDU may eventually upgrade it to 4160V anyway.
