This wasn't just a brakestomper, it was "stomp on the brakes then put the car in reverse up the hill"!

A TWO-PRONGED POTHEAD!!!!!

Holey cow! That sure is something different alright. And it looks pretty old too--might rival the old quad-bushing potheads from the 1910's in HELCO land. Also appears the line is 2.4kV ungrounded single-phase?

This does remind me of a setup I saw a while on HELCO's grid where they put a 4.8kV single phase line underground with a pothead. They used a regular ol' triple pothead and just put a dummy cap on one of the bushings though.

Yes it appeared to be 2400V ungrounded. The main run of the line also used 3' arms. Thing is, this could NOT be any earlier than 1946 when the dam started construction.

That's odd. Maybe it's just a weird sort of thing rather than an ancient sort of thing.

Do you have any photos of the pole with the stubby crossarms? I would LOVE to see those!

That's a great find. I also didn't know WAPA runs distribution? That line is maybe fed straight off the station generator bus.

I think WAPA's distribution networks are limited to the immediate vicinity of the dams.

Great find, these are very rare. I only seen one of these and it was an old 8.32/4.8kv (probably former 4.8kv delta) line I saw in Flint Michigan (Consumer's Energy) which had one of these pot heads. Ill have to get a pic of it the next time I'm up there on vacation.
