It's many many years since I was there. I used to love English Folk dance in all its forms. Thank you for this memory.

We visited the Cecil Sharp House on Open House Weekend. I don't know anything about English folk dance or song, but learned quite a bit on the tour.

It was great fun. We didn't country dancing (what the peasants would have done!), and the more courtly Playford dances (composed for stately homes and the aristocracy) and tried our hand/feet at other traditions, such as clog, morris and sword. it gave me a great deal of pleasure for 20 years or more, until my interest gradually waned.
