Cautley Spout, the highest waterfall in England.....

The wonderful thing about this 'biggest waterfall' thing is that there are so many different types of falls that there are plenty of candidates. This is a 'cascade' fall, meaning that the water falls in 'a series of rock steps' - they're rare in the UK. Thing is, the common sort is a 'tiered' fall, where 'water falls in a series of /distinct/ steps or falls'.... Hmmmm.... I get the idea, but I wonder when a 'step' becomes a 'distinct step'?! Anyway, it's pretty big, at 198m., top to bottom, of which all but the bottom 20m. or so can be seen here.

When I found this view using Google Earth, I very much liked the sweeping right hand side and the huge curve from top left, into the centre, and out to the lower left. I was only visiting this valley with the intention of making detail shots of the waterfall itself - this was a bonus.

See my blog article regarding my good luck in finding this view. .
