Layered sunrise

Layered sunrise
This is part of a sequence, taken as the sunlight, a few minutes after dawn, tracked down the mountain. At this point, the light has just reached the base of the glowing red line in the centre.

If anyone viewing this can tell me what these birds are, I'd appreciate it..... All I know is that they're not flamingoes, and that managing to photograph an altiplanic lake wihout flamingoes is quite an achievement! ;-)

This is the edge of the Salar de Atacama, near San Pedro de Atacama.

Blog posting on just how stunning the Atacama desert and Bolivian Altiplano are.
