Against a dark background
This was captured in rather low light and the bright branch against the shield-shape on this Borrowdale quarry wall attracted my attention.
I was tempted to post this upside down, when it looks remarkably like a reed island against a night sky ... As it is, I like the implied, conical shape.
This boardwalk is very useful when accessing the south of Derwent Water, so I thought it deserved an image.
A detail of a marvellously coloured slate quarry in Borrowdale. I liked the obvious, multi-coloured look of the slate itself, but the myriad of fine pine needles stuck to the surface on the right was especially pleasing, when I looked at what I'd captured!
This tongue of water reaching into the reeds and marsh at the edge of Derwent water caught my attention for some reason. And on a remarkably sunny week in the Lakes I managed to use the dull, cloudy morning to capture it ;-)
