Strawberry Heaven

Strawberry Heaven
We went to the farmers markets for our usual supply of fruit and vegetables.

There has been an abundance of strawberries and these were too good to pass up. It has been a fabulous season for strawberries with exceptional taste too.

These were the largest strawberries I have ever seen, and normally I find the large ones lacking in flavour, but after appropriate tests have been done over the weekend, such is not the case.
The one in the middle slightly obscured, is about 50mm across.

Goia, Miles Wolstenholme, SkagitLily / Rita & John and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

I recent years, I have been buying "fall stawberries" ... they are unique in our Province ... they are smaller, much darker in colours, much sweeter and far more expensive ... but man, I have never had strawberries taste so good!! I will await this years limited crop that are available for a short time during late September ... brilliant reds and an excellent macro ... well taken!!

Oh, those look so good, especially after reading your description. I always thought the larger berries were less flavorful; the absolute best were the tiny little wild strawberries from my childhood, but everything had more flavor in childhood memories. But these have my jaw aching and saliva running... :)
