Bixby Bridge
Hi, you guys!
I'm still touring the suburbs looking for wifi hot spots where I can get on the internet, and see what you-all have been uploading.

My computer problem exists because I live in a deep wooded canyon a few miles outside of a big city. Sprint's major cables are buried 6 feet from our post office, but Sprint has no interest in providing us service. ATT allowed broadband to one house at the foot of the villlage but has refused the rest of us.

So in the spirit of the old west, we had to take care of ourselves. We developed our own LAN and ran our own not-very-high-speed network from that one house to the other houses in the village. (We also assessed ourselves $40.00 a month, each, to be given to the school in lieu of paying dear old ATT.)

It worked pretty well for a while, but inevitably everyone began to use the internet more, and each of us had a smaller bit of the limited bandwidth.

Finally I was disciplined for excessive uploading of photos and watching too many You-Tubes. I'm too proud to apologize, or to give up looking at videos and photos, so now I'm probably going to satellite.

When it comes to high speed internet, I wished I lived in a country committed to equal reasonably priced access for all...

Terrific image - love how you framed it.

Your internet story is interesting.....somehow we think of America as a world leader in hi-tech stuff - and yet.........I get so mad then ours goes off for one or two minutes, which it regularly does, but always comes back!

Amazing bridge...and I wondered where you had been. We are currently changing provider again. I simply got tired of not being able to watch a video on Youtube.

It's a toss up whether I would consider an absence of internet access worth the benefit of living in a deep wooded canyon. My wife wouldn't go for it, though, so I know I'll never be faced with the choice. Here's hoping the technology finds you well soon!

Hmmm - I think I agree with Clint! I do like my high-speed internet, but sometimes I think I would be better off without it. I would be more creative and get more done! The internet can be a huge time waster! I go through periods where I don't use it much and then I get sucked back into it. It does have its merits. There's no denying that a slow connection can be very frustrating though! Good luck with getting whatever solution you decide to go for up and running!

PS - that's one tall bridge!

An impressive bridge indeed. Before we moved here we lived in a rural area - only dial up internet, running at 19,600! I went to satellite which was reliable but costly. Finally a 'Mum & Dad' business opened with wireless and gave reasonable speed and cost - but poor reliability. I can fully understand your frustration.

A beautiful bridge, graceful in its long lines. I like that camper crossing it, too.

We have satellite service at our place in the mountains. It's not great, and it comes with a quota, so that we have to be careful about watching videos, but it's better that nothing.

Your internet story is, unfortunately, going to become more common for more of us now that the FCC has changed their rules so that the big boys can buy higher speeds...

Good perspective on the Bixby bridge.

Well, I hope your connection - issues are solved now, it´s a long time since then?

But I like this bridge because of the high and small polders(?) which are looking pretty gracile.
