Remi Nadeau's Shotgun Road

Remi Nadeau's Shotgun Road
A section of old fashioned cast iron water pipe, stolen from an abandoned mine and dumped by someone along the Shotgun Road in Panamint Valley, California.

Remi Nadeau built the Shotgun Road straight through the desert 130 years ago, to accommodate his long teams, which were difficult to turn. He was the great mule freighter who hauled gold and silver bullion from some of the most famous desert mines.

With 4 wheel drive and a little determination, you can still get through the Shotgun Road. It did cause this toddler to give my vehicle its permanent name: Bumpy Car.

Boro, tiabunna, SkagitLily / Rita & John and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

So cute! I'll admit when I first saw the photo I thought the toddler was looking into the barrel of something. :) Would this be a grand or maybe great grandchild? "Bumpy car..." out of the mouths of babes...

This made me smile. You just have to love the way kids react to things.
