Mojave Rattlesnake

Mojave Rattlesnake
About a meter long. This is the rattler that has the added neurotoxin in its venom.
You wouldn't want to sit on the rock this one was hiding behind, because it has lost its rattles and cannot warn you.
I don't tease rattlesnakes into a coil for the sake of a photograph, so my pictures are almost always of the south end of a snake rapidly headed north...

Big snake, I find they rarely coil unless their escape route is blocked, like you I let them go their way

A life-saving decision AND a respectful one for creatures in the wild, too.
