A bug petroglyph

A bug petroglyph
I think that the ancient artist has portrayed a specific insect, The short antennae, the head, the segmented thorax, the shape of the abdomen...even the attitude of the two visible legs... all suggest the Desert Cicada.

In the Mojave Desert, the cicadas are big, strong, edible and cyclical, disappearing for years and then suddenly reappearing in great numbers.

Love petroglyphs, but this is different from any I've seen. Interesting! Thanks for posting it, Laurie!
