Bench.

Bench.
Scene at Lough Melvin. As may be seen, from the picture, this is a beautiful unspoilt Lough famous for the diversity and number of salmonids that live in it. The Lough has salmon, char as well as gillaroo, ferox and sonaghan strains of trout. In what is probably an apocryphal story, it is said that Charlie Chaplin fished Lough Melvin and played football in the local GAA club while staying in the locality.

Garrison, the small town situated on Lough Melvin's Northern shore, takes its name from a barracks erected by William III who halted here after the Battle of Aughrim ( 12 July 1691 ).

Garrison was a thriving town before " The Troubles ", when it was cut off from the Republic of Ireland after the roads were blown up by British Security Forces in an attempt to stop the transportation of explosives into Northern Ireland. When cross-border business halted, the town suffered from lack of trade and it is only since the roads reopened in 1994 that Garrison has found its feet again.

Beautifully peaceful shot, Geoff. I could certainly sit on that seat for a while.
