What lies Beyond ?
Gate at my brother's house. The wall visible behind it is part of the remains of Quoile Castle, now part of the Quoile Countryside Centre. The Castle is a 16th. Century tower house, believed to have been built around 1600 and to have been assoicated with the West family. Inhabited into the 18th. Century, it has three floors below the attic and good barrel vaulting which wicker centering on the ground floor. Built on estuarine mud, the south-east angle eventually collapsed but has been conserved in its present state since the 1980's. Quoile Castle tower house is a State Care Historic Monument.
