Hen Harrier ( Circus cyaneus ). 22.4.2016, Tornio, Finland.

Told today to one of my friend that I`ve been trying to take flight pics from Hen Harriers tens of years. They always turn to another direction if You are on their flight line. Or if You try to drive there on line. Or if You pull the trigger too early they turn away. Or some kind of bad luck comes on the way. Always. I told that just after female Hen Harrier flew above my car and I couldn`t get out of the car because there were two cars coming just after me...

Just an hour later I was photographing Black-Headed Gulls and waiting peregrine or some other bird of prey to come to hunt those gulls. Waited just 2 minutes when I saw through the flock a bigger bird, just like a gull but not exactly. This Hen Harrier flew through the gull-flock just towards me like it would like to be photographed and over me...I did get easily those pics I`ve tried many, many, many years....It`s just a question of being in right place in right time...but getting there seems to take in some cases some decades.....

Congratulations! I am sure he needed your pic for a raptor dating service! The female Hen Harrier will be impressed by his great looks and his choice of photographer.... ;o)
