This is Chirk Castle, one of the very fine castles of Wales. This was taken when I visited Chirk last year. I was looking through my photos from that period, and I had overlooked this one. A quick tint in Lightroom, a border in CS3 and here it is!

The sky was amazing today - very blue, with lots of interesting cloud formations. I shot about twenty pictures of this country track - this was the only vertical one, and it turned out to be the one I liked the most.

This is a shot from last year, taken on a quiet country road. We haven't seen many skies like this so far in 2008 - it's been raining a lot recently. :-( This works quite well as a desktop wallpaper

I haven't yet bought a macro lens for my EOS400, but the EF-50 does a great job of closeups in the meantime. I find that deliberately looking for, and shooting, pattern shots like this to be good training for the photographic eye.
