I am just writing a serious answer on ipermail - but it isn't that easy doing it in English. But fun. :-)

I think that your explanation is right on spot, Leon :) Thank you!
Care to write it here?

Ok:
I am fairly sure it has to do with the small waves/ripples. They lift up the lake's mirrow every now and then, or better: here and there and send the reflections in a slightly different direction as usual/normal. All those small waves have ONE direction: from down left to up right. Just imagine you lift up, let's say, your pocket mirrow to the same direction, the reflection would get sidetracked ... and now imagine, the whole lake is covered by slightly lifted pocket-mirrows (how many ladies would we need with their pocket mirrows? ;-) ) - the reflections would "seem to flow to the right" ...
That is how I explain it - at least to myself.

(I only do this, because I can't get enough of being called a genious ... :-DD )

A glorious photo! I can understand why you feel irritated by the reflection. Leon's explanation sounds spot on and I think the ripples give a wonderful sense of movement to the reflection.

The reflections are amazing! The use of black and white is very effective in accentuating the details.
