San Pedro de Montes

San Pedro de Montes

This is a stone arch on a doorway of an old (ruined) monastery in norwest Spain (Bierzo region). It's your classic arch but with the slate stone commonly found in the area. The monastery became a ruin after being vacated in the late 18th century (when much Church property was confiscated). The roof's been gone for so long that huge walnut trees have grown inside the building, but the walls are mostly standing.
