Polder- en duinvogels
De motorwagens en diesellocomotieven van de Rotterdamsche Tramweg Maatschappij droegen bijna allemaal een vogelnaam. De vogelafbeeldingen zijn ontworpen door de heer Tap, de externe vormgever van de RTM. De in 1966 gesloopte motorwagen MABD 1803 droeg de naam "Kluut". Een origineel stuk plaatwerk met deze afbeelding is bewaard in het trammuseum te Ouddorp.

Die Triebwagen der Rotterdamsche Tramweg Maatschappij hatten Vogel-Namen und Abbildungen. Triebwagen MABD 1803 trug die name "Kluut" ("Säbelschnäbler").

Between 1954 and 1966 all motorcars and diesellocomotives from the interurban tramway on the isles south of Rotterdam were named after birds which lived in the region. The buses and trucks were named after regional flowers and animals such as rabbit hare and lynx.

o0o that was a well thought out plan to do this ... at some stage I guess they would have
run out of names sadly, I think it was a lovely idea and wish other countries had or could
adopt the same idea. It is the illustration of the bird that caught my eye because I love to
paint, and so for me it was eye catching and so original. Thanks for the visit just now oOo
