Kubistische stoomlocomotieven - Cubicle steamlocomotives

Kubistische stoomlocomotieven - Cubicle steamlocomotives
De stoomtramlocomotieven 1066 en 979 van de Nationale Maatschappij van Buurtspoorwegen in het schemer van de stelplaatsloods in Schepdaal.

Once Belgium had one of the densest tramway networks in the world. The interurban steamtram network streched all over the coutry from the Dutch to the French border. Only in the remote Ardennes existed some isolated lines. Before electrification of the most important routes nearly all lines were worked by three axle locomotives with an fully enclosed body. Wheels and cylinders where not visible in order to keep the horses on the roads calm. Some of these locomotives are preserved. These are two examples in the interurban tramway museum in Schepdaal near Brussels. The museumshed is one of the original buildings from Schepdaal depot which gives the museum area the well fitting "vicinal" athmosphere.
