nicola valley - VERY brittle rock 

We tried to get up there on the face instead of hiking around the back - what a pity that we had to climb up 10 meters before we finally got defied by the brittle choss and turned around.. every hold and step basically fell apart under our hands & feet which is not a nice feeling.. but we made it back safely after an hour or so of negotiation with the rock. To discover a vertical stretch of rock where constant rockfall had smashed away most of the brittle deteriorated surface helped a lot, although the outlook of falling prey to one of these smashers didnt feel to good either. A stick with two shitty ends. Lesson learned! Next time we'll take the long way around..
