The Main works
We've been living with these road works, and these bloody three way traffic lights, for at least the past 10 weeks as the gas people replace the old metal mains pipe with plastic pipes to reduce the number of frequent leaks. ... see PiP for the remainder of the story ...

PiP - The Additional Works.
Today we woke up to this in our cul-de-sac exactly opposite my house. Apparently the old metal pipe that is being replaced on the main road is still live in our close, so until they know how many houses are receiving "old" gas they can't continue with the main works ....

Mine gas pipes are metal painted bright yellow. I'd rather not let anybody to replace them with plastic ones, at least not inside my house :o

You can bet that once the work is all finished and the holes have been filled in...........another utility company will come and dig it all up again for some other reason :-))

Do you remember the old Carling (I think) advert where all the utilities use the same hole in the road and the last thing you see is a hearse arriving ! :)))

Good to see you back Maggs....... if the gas pipe renewal is the same as our recent replacements.. then the new narrower plastic is inserted along the 'inside' of the old metal piping..
