On the Road Again

I was on my way back from Colorado Springs to Denver and didn't want to take the boring Interstate. This took me the whole day instead of two hours but it was worth it. After more than 20 years it took me quite a while to identify the exact location of this photo. Even Street View didn't help, because the farm looks a lot different today. I finally got help from a guy, who worked on the farm and saw the (then Panoramio) photo in Google Earth. Small world, thanks again, cheeto ;-)

Another challenge to geotag this one after more than 30 years. I finally found the patch of pines in Street View. However, the scene looks completely different in SV because of the wide angle field of view. This shot has been taken with my Pentax ME and an 80-200 mm telezoom. 80 miles dirt road. In times when cell phones were still beyond imagination, this trip was a small adventure. This shot was taken close to the summit at almost 2.200m / 7.200 ft. On our way down on the other side, we met a park ranger with a 4x4 who asked us where we came from. He would not believe that we came over Hunter Mountain with our Toyota Celica Supra. "Can't be done with a car like yours". Well, in retrospect I think he was right since this was by far not the worst part of the road, but on the other hand, we were young and brave! ;-)

...ich habe hier wohl 10 Minuten warten müssen. 4 engines guarantee a long waiting time
