we teach them not to escalate

Metropolis and its "civic battles", cops protecting announced Neonazi marches and smashing the unannounced antifascist counter-demonstrations. A very typical scenario, I've been watching and documenting in this city of Berlin for wayyy too long. All in the name of law and order ... Fucking democracy still playing stupid games instead of acting against those who try to abolish its guarantees.

I loved this scene for the guy really "Disarmed" the all too agressive cops by encountering them totally naked ... talk about teaching how NOT to escalate ... (for obvious reasons I altered the image) ...

Democracy is not easily defined anymore - nor is freedom of speech. The Nationalist Party in Denmark go further and further - or should I say deeper and deeper when they talk of immigrants. They are taken to court and what happens... every time. The courts rule that they were in their right to say what they said. Democracy today means that the powers that be just ask the same question in a different way till they get the answers they want.
Your shot is fantastic and thank you for sharing, you gem of a woman.

I couldn't agree more with your words, dear Gudrun! The same seems to happen over here! There is an incredible amount of hipocrisy involved in most official statements of authorities and government, while somehow it seems they are pretty happy about everything that happens in matters of xenophoby and right-wing activity and they just allow those chaindogs to act, while they turn a blind eye onto their actions and instead keep restraining and battling the opposition against those neonazi and extreme right-winged activities.

It's your right not to see it (*)! ^^ I just spoke about the original theme (I don't know the proper word in English, in French it's « le générique » ) of this serie.

(*) I don't have TV at home myself!

This kind of thing makes me want to listen to Atari Teenage Riot REALLY LOUD.

See www.ipernity.com/doc/euchrid/765317/in/album/36033 for some relevant lyrics by Crass, who, 30 years ago, also had plenty to say about these kinds of police/peace confrontations. What a shame it's still going on.

Got to admit that I was drawn to this image by the prospect of a naked arse, and instead found myself politicised and fired up. Communities sort problems out, not states or governments; I think this will be the best hope for the future.

Anyway, a great treatment of the photo; the disparity is heightened, and the police look ridiculous in all their riot gear, protecting themselves from a naked man. I bet he wishes he was arrested for pointing a lethal weapon at a police officer, though...

Great thoughts and a great contribution of lyrics!! Thanks so very much :)

As for the lethal weapon: I think he might have killed some of the cops just by means of envy, as we know that they have no balls, hahahah!

What is the obvious reason for posting this distortion? I'd like to see the original one.

lunaryunapro replies:
the obvious reason is obvious!! You post faces of cops, you get into trouble ...
And besides this I guess it is a matter of the author to decide what we post and what not and I decided to post this "distortion".

Дон Андреpro replies:
I don't guess we need to discuss on what we can do on our homes and what not, but I feel there's opportunity for a little discussion about photojournalism (PJ), which I think is the context of this picture. To me PJ is about the only field of photography where I'm completely against any kind of manipulation. This is because the goal of PJ is to show or reveal the truth and logically any manipulation leads to a distortion of the truth (I know a crop can also hide the truth, but okay that's another story). If you look at newspapers you see these kind of pictures over and over, so what's the problem?

About getting into trouble, when you say "You post faces of cops, you get into trouble" do you know this by experience?

lunaryunapro says:
With regard to your first paragraph let me just state the following: while you seem to be highly motivated and interested in photojournalism, I am NOT.. I post photographic art and my motivation and purpose for doing so are completely different from those of photojournalism. I am NOT interested in the when, who, where and how, but in creating socially engaged art which allows for general discussions of certain topics. I think the difference is pretty obvious.

And with regard to the second: Yes, I got into trouble.
