Berlin Kreutzigerstrasse - balconies

One of my absolute favourite spots in Berlin: Kreutzigerstrasse, located in the Friedrichshain quarter and place of decade-long "occupations" of buildings by alternative youngsters. The Senat of Berlin finally gave in and sought for solutions together with these people and look what we got here! Buildings with facade paintings made by the occupants themselves and a reconstruction with public credits, which helps keeping the area in better shape and suits the needs of all inhabitants.

Wunderbare Balkons. Ja, eine Totale wäre sehr schön. :)

Totale kommt sofort Hartmut, Dein Wunsch ist mir natürlich Befehl :)

Here is a "total" view of the facade (it's huge and I couldn't really capture it all)

Those bulging baylconies are just awesome!

Is this Berlin Jugedstil architecture? The wall paintings remind me of houses buiilt by the Austrian painter/architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

Timo, the houses are definitely old, maybe fin de siecle, but the paintings are a product of the artistic efforts of its inhabitants, former "Besetzer", who after more than a decade of holding the building against all odds, could strike a deal with Berlin's senat, getting the fonds to do a complete overhold of the building, which was in terrible conditions before. A wonderful example, isn't it?!
