giant banyan tree in Valencia

Many Spanish cities have these old giants in their public parks. This one in Valencia definitely caught my eyes!

Oh they absolutely do. The city has its growing modern part for certain, but fortunately a lot of historic and well preserved places as well and loads of parks. They changed the course of the river Turia since it was crossing the city and had caused devastation and death through its frequent inundations. So they moved its riverbed and now the old river course has been converted into a long stretching sort of canyon with sports grounds and parks inside.
