"spandau ballet" chapter 4: a stylish womb of the city 


this is the coronation of Spandau subway extravaganza: a metropolis-alike design for this final station of Berlin's subway line7, with black and gold intaglio-alike works and the whole structure looking like a 30s version of futuristic design.

Please note the LAMPS!! Their design made me want to walk lopsided all of the time, since they definitely seem to be standing on the ground oneself walking at the ceiling ;)

Retro-Eleganz ist ein ganz wunderbarer und perfekt zutreffender Begriff für den Stil dieses Bahnhofs!! Es war wie Metropolis und 1001 Nacht zusammen, verschmolzen zu einem Neuen. Der schwarz-goldene Kontrast ist völlig ungewöhnlich für die Berliner U-Bahn und die kantig-gewaltigen Säulen mit ihren futuristisch-geometrischen Dekorationen tragen dazu bei. Am stärksten sind aber die Lampen! Ich habe noch mehr Fotos hiervon, wo ich das Ganze einfach mal auf den Kopf gestellt habe, und es FUNKTIONIERT!! (Bild kommt gleich ...)

So, hier ist das erste, kopfstehende Bild!! Eine Alienlanderampe ...

Timo, die wurde Anfang der Achtziger Jahre als Erweiterung der bereits existierenden U7 bis nach Spandau erweitert (um 5 neue Stationen), um Spandau noch stäker einzugliedern. Alle 5 Stationen sind bemerkenswert und diese hier, die Endstation ist einfach ... WOW!
