one of the typical, incredibly beautiful yet thoroughly decaying old buildings in the city of (O)porto.

Na Du sagst es! A casa dos oculos (Das Brillenhaus) hatte es mir echt angetan mit seinen herrlichen, portugiesischen Kacheln und dem unglaublich pittoresken Verfall!

I have to agree with you. There is beauty is the decay of the old buildings. Or anything else. Like boats, cars, or industrial. It all has an appeal to it.
