Out for a Stroll

Out for a Stroll
This curving tunnel brings traffic from the elevated road around Grand Central Station back to street level at Park Avenue at 46th Street. It's the sort of place where pedestrians are, generally speaking, not welcome.

Which is why I get such a kick out of it during New York's Summer Streets Saturday morning street-closing event. You can tell the long-term New Yorkers by how much joy we take in walking along this stretch.

This image was first posted to Flickr, but frankly I think I may have just had it with them. I haven't been here in a year, but it's time to visit again and see how things have grown.
