Well, at least this yours would be a more meaningful message. But the one Percy wrote to Madge was not even worth the postage stamp he he stuck on the card... oops, there is no stamp. Ha! That explains everything. Let's hope Madge got the message!!

Lillian Virginia Mountweazel replies:

alas poor Percy, i knew him quite well

Madge and Percy were a couple until Madge ran off with the locksmith. Percy was bereft and as Madge and the locksmith sailed off into the sunset on their P&O Liner Percy declared that his life, to all intents and purposes, was over. At the first port of call Madge sent him a postcard saying ...
"I'm having a wonderful time, are you dead yet?"

and this was poor Percy's response

Of course! Their correspondence was published 90 years later and became a best seller - a modern Romeo and Juliet sequel - a true story! I think I may have some more of their original postcards and will publish them here, for the reading pleasure of the "Percy and Madge" fans. Keep your eyes peeled and in the meantime enjoy yourself! :-D
