Etruscan Terracotta Oinochoe in Form of a Woman's Head in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, February 2008

Etruscan Terracotta Oinochoe in Form of a Woman's Head in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, February 2008
Terracotta Oinochoe (jug) in the Form of a Woman's Head
Etruscan, late 4th century BC

Accession # X.21.18

Figural vessels of this sort were popular products of the Clusium Group, but this may be an imitation produced in a South Etruscan center such as Tarquinia. The figure wears an elaborate wreath and jewelry.

Text from the Metropolitan Museum of Art label.
