the temple also has the largest wooden Buddha statue in the world, but unfortunately photographing the statue is not permitted.

the Buddha is something like 12 metres high and weighs about 30 tons.
The most impressive thing about it is its sheer size, I've seen many Buddha statues that I found artistically more appealing.
Also, there are actually quite a few bigger Buddha statues in the world, but made of other materials, (if the information in the temple is correct).
BTW, nobody intervened when I was taking photos of the (bigger and better) Buddha statue in Nara.
